Portland, Oregon, is a vibrant city in the Pacific Northwest United States, located 50 kilometers west of Mt Hood. Along with its “quirky” reputation, it is well known for its natural beauty and parks, eco-friendliness, as well its microbreweries, coffeehouses, and the terroir of Oregon and Washington.  It is one of the most bike friendly-cities in North America. Volcanophiles will be spoiled by the easy access to the variety of volcanic features and terrain, while guests will find lots to do in the city and surroundings, including tax-free shopping.

Access to Portland is easy. It has an international airport served by direct flights from Asia and Europe, and direct connections from multiple points of entry in the U.S. The downtown area is served by light rail (metro) directly from the airport that also stops at the conference venue, the Oregon Convention Center.
