UPDATE (July 14, 2016): Call for Pre- and Post-Meeting Workshop Proposals

Deadline: August 29, 2016

The 2017 IAVCEI meeting will be held in Portland, Oregon from the 14th to the 18th of August.

We invite proposals for pre- and post-meeting workshops on topics related to the IAVCEI meeting theme, which is "Fostering Integrative Studies of Volcanism."

Hilton Portland & Executive Tower, 921 SW Sixth Avenue, Portland Oregon, 97204.

Dates:

The Hilton Portland and Executive Towers has rooms available for pre- and post-meeting workshops (two with capacity of 50 and two with capacity of 30). The pre-meeting workshop dates are Saturday August 12 and Sunday August 13. Post-meeting room availability limits the workshops to one day only, Saturday August 19.

If you would like to propose a workshop that includes dates other than those outlined above, please contact Wendy Bohrson by email to discuss logistics.

Wireless capability:

As of June, 2016, the Hilton will have a 1 GB line.

Workshop costs:

If the dates above are not adequate, additional room charges may be incurred. Workshop fees are required to cover desired food and beverages, AV/computer packages(s), room setup/break down, assistance with AV, and any other fees incurred by the workshop. Fees will be set in collaboration with workshop conveners once a workshop has been scheduled. A minimum number of participants is required to offset costs related to the workshop; this number will be set at the time a workshop is scheduled.

Workshop advertisement:

Once a workshop has been scheduled, the conveners will be expected to advertise their workshops. All scheduled workshops will be included on the IAVCEI 2017 webpage. Participants will register and pay for workshops via the on-line registration system for the IAVCEI meeting.

Please send the information in this document to Wendy Bohrson (bohrson@geology.cwu.edu).
Please include “IAVCEI workshop” in the subject line of the email. Proposals will be reviewed by the IAVCEI Workshop Committee to assess demand on the available rooms and to ensure the theme of the workshop is aligned with the broad scientific objectives of the meeting.

The proposal deadline is August 29, 2016.
